i went to emmi beads to get beads for a necklace for my mom, but then i had to get some for myself too…
this time i felt like getting ones made from natural materials, and i was interested in all the big main pieces. so i picked the best ones and got just a piece of silk to put them all on. at the very bottom i think is a slice of a nut. the top left one i made myself in high school.
and when i was finished it reminded me of the deathly hallows.

i got this alphonse mucha coloring book and i thought, i should color each picture and then look up what the real one looks like. so that’s what i’m doing here. each time i finish a page, i’ll post it with the original. i’m not familiar with any of these pictures, so it will be interesting to see.
here’s the first one, zodiac. the coloring book is art nouveau figurative designs by alphonse marie mucha, 37 renderings by ed sibbett, jr. mine is colored with prismacolor tria markers.

i’ve gotten further than this… the sleeves are each about 20% done. i’m switching back and forth between them so they can both be finished at the same time. i would hate it if i knit one whole sleeve and then had to start all over again for the other one.

almost done with the upper back.
i took a knitting break for about 3 weeks, and i’ve been slow getting back into it. however when i do pick it up, i happily knit for an hour or more.

i just found the best blog ever. i was wondering yesterday about the baby-sitters club and when the series ended, so i looked it up and found exactly the thing i wanted to see: someone going through each book and saying funny things about them. my description is much less interesting than the actual thing.
i also realized that i really need to read every bsc book, if not own them all… i have so many already, and i used to love them so much that it would be a really fun collection. haha i want the california diaries too… man, those were way more intense. i wish i still had the watch that came in my fan club package… but at least i still have a sheet of the stationery.
by the way, i just wanted to add that i found addams family values on tv a little while ago and i’m so happy.

specifically, websites that automatically resize your browser window. what right do you have to do that?
i was just sitting here stumbling and i don’t appreciate having to pause to bring firefox back to full size.
i wish there was an option to block this from happening.

i love how all their containers are reusable and cool looking. the original pom bottles were really nice and now their new things are multifunctional. i feel bad recycling the pom tea glasses, but we already kept four of them. i’m saving the tin from the pom ice cream because i could totally keep stuff in it.
is it just me or are there not many nice containers around anymore? its all cardboard and plastic, it seems.

i was standing outside of work today waiting for adam to pick me up, and i saw this lady and her 20something daughter walk out. as they were walking away i heard the girl say, ‘if they could just hire one person to organize that store, it would be fine.’
okay bitch…
i’d love to see you try to do what we do. i just spent a large portion of my day fixing the aisle that i saw you in. if you were in the gourmet food aisle at 5 pm, it looked great.
maybe if people didn’t treat the store like it was a dumpster and we didn’t have to spend half our time cleaning up people’s garbage, it would look a lot better. okay okay i have an entire rant on this but i’m not up to it and neither is anyone reading, i’m sure.
i must mention what these ladies were looking at when i first noticed them: a bunch of fucking ginger. that’s right. i was going to write about this anyway… there is a brand called GINGER PEOPLE and that’s all they make. ginger preserves, ginger nuts, ginger cookies, ginger whatever. it was so gross. i can just see a factory full of gingers, making ginger…
disgusting. i’m going to have a nightmare tonight about this.
ps, the girl had fake red dyed hair. i bet she has a pet ferret! (and a dog, but that’s too easy. every idiot has a dog.)

13″! not much longer till i do something different. i don’t know what’s up with the pattern, but 14″ from underarm seam to hem is not nearly long enough for a sweater. actually it might be time for me to start the next step right now… i’ll have to check my measurements again.
i can’t believe i’ve gotten this far.

it’s getting heavy! this is 10″.
i added in some waist shaping because this thing is really stretchy and i don’t want it to end up looking too big. the only thing is i made up the decreases on my own, because the pattern doesn’t call for them… so i hope i did it right.
after this is done i’m going to make some socks. and learn to doubleknit. and this waffle stitch would make a really great hat. and yeah, knitting.

i’m watching the greatest lifetime movie right now and there’s no one here to share it with me! sad.
things like this make having all these cable channels worthwhile.
